Prudhoe

(location - )

Prudhoe resides on the south side of the Tyne Valley approx 11miles west of Newcastle Upon Tyne. A small town which is now expanding with new housing developments as people move into the area to get away from city life.

The main atttraction in Prudhoe is its Castle which dates back to the 11th century. It stands approx a quarter of the way up the valley side overlooking the River Tyne.

In 1296 the area was plunged into a darkness that would last 30years. William Wallace (Hollywood’s Braveheart) and his Scots army invaded Northumberland, sacking and burning villages as he headed south.
